CERT Class Drill – Henry County

by AJ4GT on Jan.28, 2010, under CERT, Club Information

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!

It’s drill time again!! We have a CERT class going on now and their final exam/drill will be on February 27, 2010. I need volunteers for victims!! I MUST know in advance if you plan on coming to be a victim! We will be limited on time to get the make up done, and I will be out of the office a good bit up through the drill date.

Volunteers will need to be at the 911 center at 10am on the 27th, and the drill should be over no later than 2:30pm. Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and bloody.

Again, it is very important that I know in advance if you plan on volunteering! Feel free to email me or call me to sign up. I will be out of the office beginning on February 3rd and all responses and questions can be forwarded to Tamika Kendrick. You can still call my same office number and ask for her and if you email me, I will have an automatic reply on with her contact information as well.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have!!

THANKS!!!

Breakfast Idea Before ARES Meeting

by AJ4GT on Jan.10, 2010, under Club Information

Buzz, K3GWK, has checked out the hunting ground and found it it was filled with lots of bounty….  SCARC will hold a breakfast meeting on the way to Forsyth. Ryan’s Family Restaurant is open at the TA Truckstop, exit 201, I-75 (at GA-36).  The restaurant is located inside the truckstop building, enter and turn right.  It is across from the car gas pump area.  They have a breakfast buffet or you can order off the menu.  The GAPSTC is about 15 miles south. We will meet at 8 AM. It will be a good time to get together. It would give us time to eat, talk and get to the meeting site a little early.  Thanks Buzz – great Idea.

*****Winter Weather Update 3 *******

by AJ4GT on Jan.07, 2010, under ARES / RACES, CERT, Club Information, Skywarn, Weather

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a revised forecast for North and Central Georgia including Clayton County.

Snow flurries are likely late this afternoon and through the evening until around midnight. Accumulations of about 1/2 inch are expected in our area. Highs today in the mid to upper 30’s with the temperature dipping into the teens tonight and early Friday morning. As the front passes through winds will pick up from 10-20 mph overnight. This may help dry up any wet areas before they turn to ice. The high on Friday will not vary much above freezing and with the wind chill feel will more like upper teens to lower 20’s.

Please exercise extreme caution as you leave your office today. Monitor the weather situation through the evening and remember to dress in layers if you must be outside.
