We got a chance to help in training with the Piedmont K9 Search and Rescue team. They are mostly all Hams and have very well trained dogs. We had four nets and our monthly general meeting at the Henry County EOC. Last month we had our meeting at the Clayton EOC. Henry County Hospital has approved funding for a ham station to be set up at the Henry Medical Center. We will have another tech class at the end of the mouth and with all the places that want us on board, another recruiting surge. Its great to have problems like this.

FCC has amended the rules concerning Amateur Radio operations in emergency drills
by AJ4GT on Jul.16, 2010, under ARES / RACES, CERT, Club Information, Documents, Skywarn, Training
Correct posting to FCC site is:
http://www.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2010/db0714/FCC-10-124A1.doc
The FCC has amended the rules concerning Amateur Radio operations in
emergency drills as follows:
“A station licensee or control station operator may participate on behalf of an employer in an emergency preparedness or disaster readiness test or drill, limited to the duration and scope of such test or drill, and operational testing immediately prior to such test or drill. Tests or drills that are not government-sponsored are limited to a total time of one hour per week, except that no more than twice in any calendar year, they may be conducted for a period not to exceed 72 hours.” See
http://www.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2010/db0714/FCC-10-124A1.pdf
We hope that the restrictions here will prevent commercial use of Amateur Radio or our equipment by employers. Keep tuned as ARRL studies implications of this new ruling. Gene W4AYK
